3rd May 2009 ~ visit NARA by "Hanshin" new line train about 90 mins ride. 1 way cost 940 yen (S$14) per adult & 470 yen (S$7) per child.
This is a famous mascot in Nara, represented by a little monk with horn (as there are many Buddha temples & deers here).
Our 1st stop ~ KOFUKU-JI, a historical temple of ancient Nara, about 0.5km from "Nara" train station.
Another 1 km walk to the famous National Treasure, TODAI-JI TEMPLE by foot, not trishaw!
Outside the temple, there were many shops selling souvenirs, Japanese traditional snacks & drinks. Many deers wondering around the temples.
The Great Buddha was burned in the fires of war in 1180 and 1567, and the current building is actually the 3rd generation structure, which was built in the Edo period.
The width of the current building is approximately 33% smaller than that of the original structure, but it still ranks as the largest wooden structure in the world.
